چکیده
Highly-doped “mixed” transparent sesquioxide ceramics, 10 at.% Yb:(Lu2/3Sc1/3)2O3, are fabricated by vacuum sintering at 1700 °C followed hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) 1680 and 200 MPa. The ceramics of single-phase nature with a cubic (C-type, = 10.191 Å) structure mean grain size 0.66 μm. متن کاملYb-doped glass microcavity laser operation in water.
A ytterbium-doped silica microcavity laser demonstrates stable laser emission while completely submerged in water. To our knowledge, it is the first solid-state laser whose cavity mode interacts with water. The device generates more than 2 microW of output power. The laser performance is presented, and low-concentration biosensing is discussed as a potential application.

Transparent Er3+-doped germanotellurite glass ceramics (GCs) with variable Te/Ge ratio were prepared by controllable heat-treated process. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) confirmed the formation of nanocrystals in glass matrix. Raman spectra were used to investigate the evolution of glass structure and photon energy. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra w...
متن کاملLaser spectroscopy of hyperfine structure in highly-charged ions: a test of QED at high fields
An overview is presented of laser spectroscopy experiments with cold, trapped, highly-charged ions, which will be performed at the HITRAP facility at GSI in Darmstadt (Germany). These high-resolution measurements of ground state hyperfine splittings will be three orders of magnitude more precise than previous measurements. Moreover, from a comparison of measurements of the hyperfine splittings ...
